i am 8-bit

i am 8-bit gathers the talents of over 100 artists (including Gary Baseman, Gary Taxali, Clay Sisk, and Chip Wass) to put their fond memories of video games to canvas (or paper, or wood…). They assure us there are absolutely no 3D-inspired works — just pre-1995 influences, “a decadent time when games were flat and flourishing with creativity.”

  • Broken link?

I saw a Link floating around the web somewhere (can't find the link). It was pretty cool. With 100 artists, that's probably a good 150 pieces. They've probably covered a lot of bases. I just hope someone does Mega Man!!! This show is gonna be cool.
  • What? No Zelda!?
  • Great show concept! If I was part of that show, I'd probably do something dedicated to Nintendo's Pro Wrestling (I loved that game), since Excitebike was taken.
  • They even have Q-Bert!!! I'm in love.

Holy hot damn! That's an original Gabe Swarr!? I just love his work. I think his website is www.bigpantsmouse.com or something. I didn't know he was penetrating the fine art world. Classic games and art seems like an awesome combo!
  • Ohmigod, that's great! Thanks for the tip -- I live here in SoCal and I am totally going to see that show!!!
