Madame Talbot’s Victorian Lowbrow features the intense hand-drawn pen-and-ink artwork of Ashleigh Talbot. Her posters feature skeletons, ghosts, folk legends, circus sideshow, delta blues, crossroads, graveyards, vampires, Lady Luck & good fortune!
ha ha. it’s funny to see this on here. there’s a crazy museum not too far from astoria, oregon that features this artwork (among other things including the Jake the Alligator Man himself!). when i was there a couple of summers ago visiting some friends we stopped there. i picked up a bumper sticker with this same artwork on it. i really liked it. it’s right at home in this museum which is also chocked full of some of the earliest pinball machines, music boxes, circus games and strange “hybrid animals” that are mounted on the walls. i recently got engaged to my boyfriend, jake. he is now the proud owner of that bumper sticker.
