The Death of Movie Poster Art

There’s a great article over at moviemaker.com called Poster Art and The Art of The Poster, interviewing artists Drew Struzan, John Berkey, and John Solie on the state of modern movie posters and how gorgeous illustrations have now been replaced with a series of Photoshopped floating heads.

Drew Struzan appears to be the only successful movie poster illustrator still working, and his work is immediately recognizable. For years growing up I had his E.T. poster hanging on my wall. I just received my copy of his newest portfolio book, a gorgeous hardcover volume called Drew Struzan: Oeuvre and it’s a must-have for fans of this dying artform.
