Hey all–great news for Keane afficionados!

I just emailed the Gallery, and heard back immediately; the proprietor, Robert Brown, told me he reopened the gallery next door to the old location almost two years ago-and it’s still open. He suggested I give him a call next time I’m up there and come on by, which I most certainly will.

Keane’s work is one of those love/hate kinds of things…right now, I,love it-perhaps for the strangeness factor, maybe a bit of nostalgia…but there’s something there in her best paintings, no doubt about it.

Found this site on “Neat Stuff” on the net. Regarding M. Keane. M. challenged W. to a paint-off in Union Square in SF. Walter refused. Margaret moved to Hawaii and married the sports writer Dan McGuire. He did she became heavily involved with the Jehova’s Witnesses as did her daughter. M.moved back to SFO. Sorry to hear her gallery closed. Her brother, last I heard, still lives in Honolulu.

Those Eyes Seem to tell a story of sorrow and pain and disappointment to me…. They are quite rare. This is an inspirational painting to me, in the sense that even though you have hard times in life, there’s always someone who is worse off than you are
