Dan Krall

dan krall

dan krallI found out about Dan Krall back in January, thanks to Amid at Cartoon Brew. Dan is an art director and background designer for such shows as Samurai Jack and Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends. Apparently, he’s been doing some freelance work as an illustrator as well, as some of the work featured on his site look to be spot illustrations for publications. I love his caricatures of celebrities as he doesn’t hold back.

As Amid mentioned earlier, Dan’s drawings have a Ronald Searle feel to them. Maybe that’s why I love them so. Oh, and his paintings are colorful, wild and stylized: just the way I like ‘em.

  • Thanks everyone for looking and your nice comments on my work. Not sure what I ever did to Lily.

In person he's a jerk with a giant head
  • Absolutely awesome stuff! I love the style of the design and art in these illustrations! Beautiful stuff!
  • I positively INSIST that my little kids watch Samurai Jack because it so beautifully styled.... and they're crazy for Foster's Home. I'll being exploring Krall some more, thanks.
  • Joi
    Simply superb
  • Another fan here. Beeyootiful!
  • Freaking incredible. I love Dan Krall's work. He and Scott Wills took background design and layout to a whole other dimension on Samurai Jack. I could watch an entire show of just their stuff.
  • Jay
Love heart with a frilly lace trim.
  • Great post. I discovered Dan through Amid's post as well. Very cool stuff.
