Fun and Games

gamesProbably best known for his WWII propaganda posters, Abram Games is a fondly remembered, and very influencial, British graphic artist. Games’ work is clean and spare, putting into practice his motto, “Maximum Meaning, Minimum Means”.

  • hm...
he came & did a wee talk at my useless art college in Amersham (Buckinghamshire, UK) when I was on my HND there (from which I later dropped out: year one ends, "Yes you can specialise in animation in year 2"; year 2 starts, "We are not doing animation this year." - me? bitter?).
He was a very pleasant old fella & we were a bunch of ignorant little shits...
He showed us some right good samples of his work & did a little talk, but it was all a little removed from what we might take in (conditioned as we were into stupidity by the crap tutors).

    Wish I'd been more enlightened...
  • Just fabulous, fabulous work.
  • Sometimes I wish that Art Deco had never gone out of style. This is great stuff.
