Good grief! I’m covered all over with dots!

Harry McCracken has posted a bizarre 8-page promotional comic from 1957 for the Des Moines Register and Tribune that was definitely not drawn by Schulz. The comic involves Charlie Brown and Lucy entering ‘the real world’ to learn about newspaper production, and probably the only time the Peanuts gang ever expressed any knowledge that they were merely cartoons.

  • Not a fan.

If schulz didn't draw it or put those words in thier mouths, it shouldn't be there.

I passed the link around here at The Des Moines Register and many of the older employees remember Bob Davenport. He apparently was quite the character and used to hide pictures of naked ladies in crowd scenes.
Many of the interior drawings still reflect what our interior look like. Especially the giant globe, which has not been updated since the early 80's now.
  • In some of the very early strips, Charlie Brown actually makes reference to transferring to a different comic strip. It's a weird gag and it always seemed out of place, so I'm glad Schulz eventually dropped it wholesale.

I'll see if I can find dates. Those Complete Peanuts collections are beautiful annotated ...

It's bizzare seeing these characters walking around in a 3d world.
