  • Various sources have cited Jack's creation of a proto-Spiderman that predated the one we all know and love. What I want to know is- has anyone EVER seen a sketch or anything regarding this character? I would love to see it if it is stil in existance.

  • Yep, Kirby would have to be one of the most masterful and prolific comic-book creators of all time. Thanks for the great link - I look forward to seeing more images uploaded into the catalogue.

    After having a look for some material on the 'Silver Spider' precursor to Spider Man I found this site. I googled it for a while and couldn't find a better image, but you get the idea. The site credits the Silver Spider to Joe Simon, but I recently read in Stan Lee's semi-biography that it was Kirbys idea.
