Massive collection of flipbooks

Wow! You need to look at this massive archive of flipbooks, both new and vintage: Flipbook.info. The site seems to have a lot of information and history about flipbooks; unfortunately the site is entirely in French. Luckily, non-French speakers can still take advantage of the site… Do a search for “dessin animé” for example, or “Disney” or the name of your favourite animated character. Throughout the information pages, the site also boasts several videos of vintage flipbooks being animated — just hover around and look for the images that are clickable. (link via the Beatnik Pad)

  • New art project I would like to share with you.

I made a September 11th flipbook using video of a plane flying into World Trade Center. I'm actually giving them away, but there is a catch of course. I am asking for a short essay explaining why you would like to have a free flipbook.

View a movie of the flipbook in action:

After I trade 50 books for essays, I am going to make a regular size book with all the collected text and insert the flip frames in the corner. So far I've exchanged 10 flipbooks for a range of emotional responses.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Scott Blake
