Illustrating with embroidery

If you haven’t been following Whip Up, you really should, especially if you’re crafty. Worlds collide between craft and illustration in several recent posts there. Kathreen points us towardss the embroidered illustrations of Kent Henricksen and Sandine Pelletier. Whip Up also offers several links to the embroidered comic book and superhero art of Mark Newport which I’m surprised hasn’t been featured on Drawn! before. And of course, who doesn’t love an embroidered Yeti?

  • I can't believe you didn't name check the creator of that embroidered Yeti, Megan Whitmarsh! She's an awesome talent (just look at the illustrations on that homepage!), and probably deserves an entry of her very own.
  • I always enjoy a little non-traditional illustration. That's one cool Yeti.

  • Hi, this is my first visit to drawn! I'm working on my own blog and want to connect especially with artists who use embroidery and other textiles in their illustration work. Thanks and I'm liking what I see here.
  • Enjoyed the "Yeti" and the overall theme of Drawn. As owner of an Embroidery site I will have to add a page on Illustrating with Embroidery and tell visitors about Drawn.
