Chris Ware ends his run at the New York Times

Chris Ware has published the last of his 29-page comic series Building Stories for the New York Times Magazine’s Funny Pages. All 29 pages are available for download in PDF format at the NYT website. (You may have to register at the site, but remember: bugmenot is your friend).

UPDATE:
Seems like the New York Times has taken down Chris Ware’s stuff. If anyone knows of a mirror please let us know (or if you managed to get all of them, perhaps we can host a mirror for a bit).

    Don't let the doorknob hit you where the good lord split you. Unreadable drek in the NYT. I liked his work in Acme, but here it was just dull as dishwater and hard to read too.

    Bleh. I think it's killed my desire to further read Ware.

  • I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'd like to see the Times continue its slightly skewed take on the Sunday Funnies with contributions by other modern graphic-novelist-types.
  • I'm with Tom. Trying to capture the feeling of ennui and the mundane doesn't mean the work has to exemplify both. I am enjoying Rusty Brown quite a bit, though.
  • I really like Chris Ware. This one, though...I dunno. It started out interesting, but it ended feeling rather detatched and ultimately pretty empty. But considering the subject matter, maybe that's what he was going for?

    The page with file name Part 14 (dated 12.18.05) is part 14, 10 a.m. Either Ware or the Times printed it with the wrong date. The files Part 12 and Part 13 are both Part 12. The missing file is the real Part 13 (dated 12.11.05) and you can still find it at
    http://www.nytimes.com/packages/pdf/magazine/20.... By the way, all the files still seem to be "up." Just put in the appropriate date (2005etc). It just doesn't have a current link on the NY Times site.
