The Golden Age of Travel Posters

Vist Far and Wide: the Golden Age of Travel Posters for some stunning vintage posters depicting the exotic and romantic holiday destinations of the 1920s and 30s. These posters are from the collection of the Los Angeles Public Library.

  • The "they don't make em like they used to" thought popped into my head as I was browsing the wonderful collection. I'd love to find some more of these.
  • I found a site like this several years ago and the bookmark is now dead. :(

Thanks so much for giving me a new source for those "take me away" moments.

I must say I'm a sucker for this stuff - I guess that's where the term "posterize" comes from.

Check out the print ads for Forestville Wines to see a recent adaption of this style...
  • Wish I could live in LA...just to see that... the colors they used in this this were sometimes so brave! And even if you have some books about these posters, it's always interresting to see how they were printed too...like originals : )

    That's AMAZINGLY beautiful.

I love the more stylized ones: it's incredible how the feeling of the landscape can be expressed with such a limited palette of colors and forms
