Ragni

If this book is still around, I’m sure it’s going to sell out at comic conventions this summer.

Instead of issuing standard CD sleeves for their debut EP, the rock band, Ragni, worked with Karl Kerschl (Superman, Teen Titans) to produce a 72-page wordless graphic novel that works on the same themes as the music. You can see a couple sample pages here.

Full disclosure: I’m very good friends with the artists in question – which also means I was one of the first to see how gorgeous this book really is. It’s a looser, more emotive style than Karl is known for – and I love every page. (The book and the CD are available on the Ragni site for USD$12.99+s/h).

The songs are stunning too. Epic in scope, you can hear most of them on Ragni’s MySpace page – somewhat reminiscent of Sigur Ros or gybe!.

No worries, Brendan. Makes sense now the $5.00 is in the shipping column. Thanks. Now I just have to decide if I can be selfless enough to buy this for my other half (because I know he'll love it as much as me) or do I buy it for myself!

Just wanted to bring some good news.
Drawn! was listed in the TIME 50 coolest websites of 2006.

  • great to see you're still alive brenden! i thought we'd lost you to the north sea.

yeah, it's amazing how much cash gets swallowed up on shipping. this book is also relatively heavy - due the paper stock and CD - which i'm sure rings up the bill. add paypal's fee to that and five bucks is actually very reasonable for shipping.
  • thank you for all the attention! i thought i'd chime in and point out that the book+CD are indeed only $12.99 USD. the additional $5.00 charge is a flat rate for shipping worldwide. sorry for the confusion, sooze.

karl, jakub and i will be at the big NYC comic con from FEB. 23rd - 25th selling and signing the remaining copies of this limited run. stop by and say 'hello' if your're in the neighbourhood!

Worth noting that when you click through to buy the cd +book you're getting billing $17.99, not $12.99
  • Very impressive body of work this guy has. He's also great with storytelling. His short Cats can keep you from Bermuda is a great example of that. The CD art+music are gorgeous too.
    Bravo!
