NYC Subway Tile Art

Michael Sporn writes about Ann Schaumberger’s tile art in Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue subway station (above).

He also has a great post about Keith Godard’s series of floating hats at 23rd Street station.

  • It isn't comprehensive but Sandra Bloodworth and William Ayres have an excellent book on art in the NYC system called "Along the way: MTA Arts for Transit." It basically is a field guide to the art, giving you locations and artists bios but only samplings of the actual art, but it's a good place to start!
