  • They are so cool! Thanks for sharing the link Johnny, I'd never come across this blog before! Cheers! :)
  • Love the melting Nazi. Great stuff.
  • Ha! Love 'em. On the same theme, here's a guy who did some philosopher trading cards, among many other things-Spleenal
  • Link doesn't seem to work, but here's the longhand version-http://spleenal.blogspot.com/2008/03/next-gen-hot-housing-top-trumps.html

These are some really great sketches.

Sadly the dark side to these sketchcards is that the artists get paid one dollar, sometimes 1.50 per card. Which adds up to 2 or 3 hundred dollars for many MANY hours of work.

and in reality I know several artists who have done this and not gotten paid at all. Their only compensation is that they get to keep a few cards and HOPE that they sell for a decent amount.

The cards are themed around brands that artists are very loyal to, and many see it as an “honor” to draw them. Meanwhile the collectors and card producers rake in a profit from their loyalty.
  • Actually, that was the first thing I thought of, random.word. I know dudes that did Magic cards for 100 a piece and thought they hit the goldmine. My friend, Jamie Snell ( http://www.myspace.com/ragelion ) is working on the Jones cards, too. He did Lord of the Rings and has been working for many years just spinning his wheels. The card and comic industry is a cold mistress.
  • Very cool. And there's a monkey
  • These are awesome! These cards'll probably
    be better than the sequel.

  • Now these just freakin' rock!
  • Gorgeous cards.

Sorry to hear about the artists who slave away at these and make next to nothing.

Not looking forward to the pre-quel. Loved the first one, but they seemed to just get worse and worse with each one. If that trend continues, we can count on this next one bombing big.

Not to mention-----HAVEN'T WE HAD ENOUGH SEQUELS OF EVERYTHING!!!! Man, come on! We're creative; can't we come up with something original?!
  • yep these are great, esp the face melter!
