Cartoons as Silhouettes

Most accomplished cartoonists will tell you that good character design should allow the viewer to recognize a character by its silhouette. Bob Flynn has assembled this line-up of cartoon silhouettes, and you should be able to recognize most if not all of them quite easily.

Bottom row, third from the left. Only one I’m having a problem with.
Casper the Friendly Ghost.
Instant recognition for all of them, including Bobby fom Bobby’s World and that irritating baby Stewie. Quite surprising and fun!
I got all but the last one. Who is that?
Marvin the Martian.
Mickey Mouse, Daffy Duck, Fred Flintstone, Ren & Stimpy, Bart Simpson, Spongebob Squarepants, Felix the Cat, Roadrunner, Marge Simpson, Yogi Bear, Stewie Griffin, Popeye, ??, Charlie Brown, Buggs Bunny, Wilma Flintstone, Mighty Mouse, Bullwinkle, Odie, Goofie, ??, Dexter, Snoopy, ??, Olive Oyl, Pink Panther, Betty Boop, Hey Arnold, Casper, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, Tasmanian Devil, Bobby Generic, Pinky & The Brain, Marvin the Martian.
?? are Mr. Krabbs and Squidward, both of Spongebob’s neighborhood. MoJo JoJo. from Powerpuff girls is the really odd one. Thank God my kids know the newer icons, the only one I couldn’t get was Mojo JoJo.
The girlfriend and I nailed them all except Mr. Krabbs (she thought Sebastian from The Little Mermaid), Mr. Peabody & Sherman (who?!) and Marvin the Martian (poor silhouette).
Fun little game. More, please!
Glad everyone is having fun with it. Folks seem to be having the most trouble with the same ones. Namely, Mojo (weird silo, but I thought it looked interesting) and unfairly, Marvin. I didn’t find the best pose for him. But that just shows how important silhouette really is in every drawing you make. I’ve been amazed by how much expression shows through the stronger poses.
Who is between Goofy and Dexter?
I love it! Next timeI make a cartoon of you, I’ll silhouette it just like these!!
