Matthew Woodson selling art for spider-bite medical bills
Artist Matthew Woodson was recently bit by an unknown spider. Unlike Peter Parker who gained untold superpowers from a similar incident, this comics-related spider bite has put the artist in a tight financial situation. Read his blog for full details, but essentially, he is taking on commissioned illustration work — no job too small — to help pay for the medical bills over the next 8 months to keep the poisonous infection at bay.
Shown here, a recent painting from Matthew.

He is such a talented illustrator! I really hate to know that he suffers, be it from an awful spider bite or financial problems. :( Too sad. Free health care for all citizens – this is what makes a great country.
And this just makes me hate venomous critters even more. I hope that spider became bird food.
Where does Matthew (?) live? If he’s to the south in the U.S. then that was probably a Brown Recluse Spider bite he took. Nasty stuff. I’m sorry to hear that. Better than a bite from a Camel Spider though… >skin crawling<
