Blue Note covers
Goodness gracious, there’s quite a bit of scans of original Blue Note jazz album covers featured on this Japanese website, Vintage Vanguard. That link is just the first of five pages each just chock full of incredible artwork and design spanning from the 40’s to the 70’s. (There’s actually more pages, so be sure to check ‘em all out.) For all you vinylheads out there, this is a treasure trove that shouldn’t be overlooked.

Wow. That’s a lot of good stuff. When I look through that stuff, I can’t help but think of rubylith, acetate separations, and little registration marks taped on each layer. (yup, I’m an old-timer…)
Seeing such a huge group of the original stuff is really cool for those of us that still get ourinspiration from the type and the art. Man, I love the interweb.
Those look so cool. So much great artwork on album covers, that really got lost on the move to CDs and digital everything. Of course, now I don’t buy a crappy album just based on a nice cover…
