When pixel art meets crayons

Who says crayons are just for kids? Artist Christian Faur uses wax crayons themselves as pixels to create imagery. The results are stunning, and I doubt I’d be able to resist the urge to touch these pieces in real life.

  • These are very interesting conceptual pieces: if you pressed the mosaic against a paper you would create a symmetric transfer made with their own material and so on.

    I like this. It kind of reminds me of some of the "paintings" done with Legos. Actually both have the subcontext of being created by items from childhood come to think of it.
  • I looked at this work and then went to the BBC. There was an image there that seemed so amazingly similar to me as the bottom image here. But it is not crayons, it's people...a lovely graphical happenstance. (see link below as of wed 4th March)
