A note from Persepolis author Marjane Satrapi

Dear Friends
To all who believe in freedom and democracy
Please sign this petition to the United Nations to stop the violence,
arrests and torture in Iran.
The situation is really really bad.
Please forward it to whoever you know
Best and lots of love
Marjane Satrapi

An interesting writing on this matter. And, I’m against all kind of violence, don’t get me wrong.

Iran To Protesters: Watch Lord Of the Rings:

I know this is a serious matter, and I’m sorry if this rankles anyone…
But you’ve GOT to be kidding me.
How naive can you be?? What in all of creation is the United Nations going to do?
Are they going to write a harshly worded letter? Sounds stupid, but yeah – thats what they will do. Thats is all they CAN do. They are an absolute disgrace and a failure in all aspects. Iran has sat on their human rights commission for crying out loud. What makes Marjane Satrapi think that there is anything that the UN will do? The UN’s atomic watch agency has practically run interference for Iran in their development of nuclear weapons.
The UN has failed the world even in humanitarian efforts, they don’t have the will or the effectiveness to do anything for the people of Iran.
The more years I spend as an artist the more astounded I am at the idiocy and inability for my fellow artists to grasp reality when it is important.
A simple recount would have stopped all these violence.
