Spanish comic artists at Deskartes Mil
My pal David Roach mentioned in passing that he was contributing to a Spanish blog called Deskartes Mil which is devoted to great Spanish comic artists. (I have included the Google Translated version here as my link – hope it works)
Holy smokes! When I went to take a look at Deskartes Mil my jaw dropped. Tons of gorgeous mid-20th century artwork from old British comic books are posted there. For war, western, horror or history buffs, all genres seem to be represented, but I’m particularly fond of old romance comics since the scenarios (regular people in street clothes talking, eating, working) are so similar to the sort of things I draw as a storyboard artist. This is really inspirational stuff – and great reference!
Many of these Spanish artists are completely unknown to me… but their abilities are first rate. Go check out Deskartes Mil and prepare to stay for a while!
