A Gentleman’s Duel

Found this via Kean Soo’s blog. Kean puts it best:

Man, this starts out good and then becomes great with the totally unexpected turn of events.

I’d love to see this on the big screen!

UPDATE:
After hearing from the creators of the film at Blur, I’ve been told that whoever posted A Gentleman’s Duel did it without their permission, as it’s not meant to be distributed online, so I’ve removed it. -J

I saw it on the big screen at Annecy this year. I don’t think it’s a great film, story-wise, but it looked absolutely spectacular. From design to final shot it was just really appealing.

These do seem to be kind of attempting to appeal to adult tastes. It would be nice to see an R rated feature length animated movie for adults some day that isn’t directed by Ralph Bakshi, and is good.

I’m impressed by the animation. The robots with those awesome backgrounds, wow.

Wow, fantastic! I’m not normally a big fan of modern animation, but, this definitely was appealing.

Ridiculous that they complained… do they not know the difference between stealing content and reviewing? Do they not appreciate the advertising value Drawn gives them? And the negative taste this leaves to deny us the right to pass along information and opinions? Would they do the same if we were the New York Times? huh….

Hey Jaleen, I might be wrong, but I doubt that it has anything to do with whether it was posted on Drawn or the New York Times website. It is more likely that they have an agreement with someone that the film not be shown in its entirety online. This is sometimes a requirement of film festivals, distributors or broadcasters. Once the film has aged a bit, it will probably re-appear with Blur’s blessing on the internet.

In the meantime, Blur does have a preview/teaser on their website:

Of course all the preview does is make you want to see more ;o)
