Aardman Ablaze

Just as Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit hits #1 at the box office this past weekend, Aardman Animation in Bristol is hit with some horrible news. The studio’s warehouse caught fire early this morning, destroying years of props, models, and history from Aardman’s films, including Morph, Chicken Run, and the first three Wallace & Gromit shorts. Sad news for animation fans.

Sad for Aardman Studios too. Maybe it will let them stay fresh.

I was really impressed to see that Nick Parks has a sense of perpective and says that much worse things happen. In the end it’s only props and memorabilia that were affected. We still have the films which in the end is what it’s all about.

It is a terrible thing that happened, but I am sure with all their talent and creativity they will be able to pull it together and start again. Nick Park had a great attitude about the incident! I hope they will do more great things in the future.
