Illustrator Nate Padavick is exhibiting a series called Alive & Kicking: NYC Independent Business Owners. The exhibits features 17 portraits of small business owners in New York City.
Nate writes:
Times are tough and the economy continues to challenge small business owners all over the country. With large retailers luring consumers away and property owners raising commercial rent, many small businesses have simply called it quits. In New York City, where the neighborhood shops help build a neighborhood’s character, the closing of a store is often felt like the death of an old dear friend.
