Alma

Director Rodrigo Blaas offers up Alma, a perfect little animated short that is equal parts Pixar and The Twilight Zone. Sadly, the short’s official site notes that it is only available for viewing online for a limited time. I don’t know how long that will be, but do enjoy it while you can.

Watch it in full screen.

Amazing. And so very creepy. It’s a pity that it can’t be available forever. Regardless, it is a beautiful animation.

Very nice and beautifully done, though the ending seemed telegraphed far in advance. Once I had guessed what would happen, there were no surprises. Lovely acting, regardless.

beautiful animation, technically really great, it really has life and beautiful atmosphere but the story I didn' t like very much. At the end I felt like “Yes, and?” I don't think this whole idea is all that great and special. If I thought of idea like this it wouldn't be strong enough for me to move me to pursuit the goal of turning it into animation short. Animation shorts are so much work and you better have a really great idea that is worth all that time and energy.

    in other words:
You lead a horse to water and you watch him drown.

I saw this a few days ago at a Sci-Fi film festival (in Seattle). Great little film.
