More robots! The paintings of Ashley Wood are so loose and expressive I may just stop drawing with my eyes open to see if I can pull of the same effect. His illustration technique is a combination of traditional painting techniques, coupled with digital photography and graphic software

    After a year or more off the boil his work is picking up again.

    The piece you’ve used is one of my favourites. Like Mckean I’m fascinated by the fact I can never quite figure out exactly how he makes half of his pictures.

    Why do I get the allusion to Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow? Great choice of colors and concepts. I love the old style robot, Ashley’s vision is way out of this world. A gem of a find.

    i used to really not understand what ahsley’s work was all about. id see people all excited about it.. and i always thought it was way too messy.. but in recent months ive gone back and somehow.. it all made sense.

    his Metal Gear Solid is awesome – i’m taking some advice and am trying to track down some Automatic Kafka, i’m gonna guess it’s awesome too.

    Ashley’s work is amazing he is a great example for modern illustrative art. The guy dropped out of Graphic Design after high school and look at the work he gets Metal Gear Solid, C.S.I the list goes on.
