Axe Jeeves?

Ask‘s cartoon mascot Jeeves is on the way out. And as the BBC reports, there is a faction of loyal fans out there who don’t want to say good-bye. At the heart of the campaign is a blog called Save Jeeves, which has been pointed out to me by Marcos Sorensen, the illustrator responsible for the look of Jeeves throughout the years, and who has posted several variations on the knowledgeable butler on his website.

I think not only should Jeeves be killed, he should have his head cut off, rammed onto a pole and paraded around the streets as a warning to other bad search engines. No, Jeeves, I don’t want to find a recipe for apple pie, I want to know where I can get my iPod fixed.

Knowing how marketing people think, though, Jeeves will probably be replaced by a rapping goose or something.

Poor pitiful folks. This is one of the saddest things I’ve ever not cared about. Think about what these pathetic entities might accomplish if they ever found something meaningful by comparison to do like having
a blog that dedicated to keeping track of the number of armpit hair follicles they had any given moment in time. Certainly something everyone would recognized as having a greater socially redeeming value than what they’re doing now.
