BBC Sport 2010 Winter Olympics Inuit Animation

The incredible Jon Klassen teams up with director Marc Craste of Studio AKA to create magic. Simply astonishing work. More details can be found here.

Previous BBC Sport Olympic animation: 2008 Olympics Monkey Movie with Jamie Hewlett, Kevin Dart and directed by Pete Candeland and Robert Valley.

still sort of kept the monkey style which now feels too intrinsically linked to tony blair and not just damon albarn. makes me cringe a bit. would be great to see a fresh risk on alternate styles using this current studio abilities which look great.
musics totally out of it though. very bbc.

Not sure if that's vector – I believe that Jon works in Photoshop and then has his work made into CG elements. Let me get back to you on this….

This is super-cool. I especially love how the choice of an Inukshuk for the logo of the Vancouver olympics has been embraced… Vancouver being nowhere near the arctic circle, thus ignoring the many more interesting artistic works of local First Nations artists..

But whatever.. I'm sure the territories will return the favour when they get the summer olympics in 100 years. BaDum-Tssch!

It is a rad piece of work though..

Brilliant animation. BBC gets it right when it comes to sequences like this! Last olympics they nailed it, looks like they've done the same again.
    Awesome!

avatar and who ollie. oliver johnston was an original animater from walt disney. who ollie is a character from outside. the critique of avatar is their environment that is so close to ours and not from another world.
