Boris Artzybasheff

ArtzybasheffFans of the incomparable Boris Artzybasheff will be pleased to know that As I See, his long-sought after book originally published in 1954, will be back in print, all thanks to Ken Steacy Publishing. A brief description about the book on the site: “A fantastical collection of ironic imagery which document our culture’s vanity, aggression, dreams, and neuroses with biting wit and wisdom.”

For some great examples of his work, check out this gallery at American Art Archives. Amazing work.

(Thanks, Irwin!)

    I discovered this guy literally like a week ago, and this is the best possible news I can think of. I must have one.

    Ordered a copy from Ken Steacy Publishing four days ago; it’s just arrived today!
    Reproduction quality is very, very good. Great to have this classic work in hand.

    Are the only things reproduced in colour the front and back cover? And is the original edition in black and white as well?

    I CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR BRINGING THE REISSUE OF “AS I SEE” TO MY ATTENTION. This book was in a public library near my home in Detroit and I must have checked it out ten times.

    Actually, I found the “Drawn” site by following my nose from Keri Smith’s site. And I can’t tell you just HOW I found that one. At 64 I’ve been on the net less than five years and less than three on my own computer. It is truly miraculous.

    Best wishes,

    Steve Frenkel

    This is a great book. Although the front and back covers are the only color plates. It’s still worth it’s weight in gold.

    Dear Ward;
    Has there been anyone who is living to help keep this type of expressionism alive?
