Cool Pool

It’s a good bet that your swimming pool isn’t as cool as Pixar’s president and co-founder Dr. Ed Catmull’s pool. Tile mural artist Robert Voglund recently finished work on Catmull’s Finding Nemo-themed pool. (via Luxo)

    Reminds me of a custom pool done in California that had to be completely painted over in solid blue. Why? Safety regulations for pools, even private pools, are fairly strict — the idea is that you want to be able to tell if a person is at the bottom and not be confused by designs.

    Nice mosaic work…a wee bit massively self-referential, though. Perhaps it’s passable as he isn’t an artist, nor did he design or conceive the characters. Now, if this were Andrew Stanton’s pool…but still, it kind of smacks of: “Behold! the POWER of Me-Pixar!”.

    But again–great job with the tiles.
