Creative Farm Girl

Sometimes I crave art that isn’t drawn with tight, clean black lines and coloured in Photoshop. Looking at the soft dreamy organic paintings and illustrations of the artist Katherine Dunn makes me feel calm and peaceful, like I’m lying in a meadow and a cool soft breeze is whispering in my ear.

Katherine is a lover of sheep and horses, dogs and cats and grass and lavender, and she whispers all this gentle love into her enchanting artwork. She lives and works on her farm with her landscaper husband, and draws and paints from her heart. Sounds like the perfect life. You can find more of her delightful artwork at her online store, and there’s a wonderful interview with Katherine on the site Another Girl at Play. Hats off to Alex for reminding me about this enchanting talent.

I love the work. I wish the website wasn’t driving me bat-shit insane. I’m a terrible web designer myself and I’m always sad to see people’s work misrepresented by slow moving rasterized-type websites.

I know what you mean about the website, SushiHead; I wish it were easier to navigate. But if you can get beyond that, her work really is amazing.

    And I myself having a pretty luddite-based website, too….
