Tony DiTerlizzi has a new site that is fun as trampolines to visit. I love this stuff, and Tony’s success (Caldecott, anyone?) supports my theory that the ‘lowbrow’ art of the moment, where talent grows quietly like mushrooms in an unvisited cellar, is Gaming Art. Will we reflect favorably on one of the few thriving arenas for subjective painted illustration in the future the way we all look back now on vintage comics as true pop art? Or the way mid century paperback art is revered today? Probably not. But Tony started illustrating for Dungeons and Dragons, so there.
