eye:hand

This is a Flickr project that looks like great fun! Siobhan at eye:hand invites you to submit a photo of yourself along with a hand rendering of the same picture. I love that it gets even the most reluctant artists to set aside some time for drawing… (even though there are a few cheaters who clearly didn’t leave the computer!) Play along!

I saw this link posted elsewhere about a week ago, and as I love Flickr groups(so many great ones!), checked it out; the first dozen or so were so obviously someone taking the self portrait and using this or that Photoshop filter(JUST the filter! Not even tweaking the result!)that I was pretty disappointed, not t say, um, disgusted. I mean, it looked at a cursory glance like ONE of about 20 was a person actually bothering to “freehand” a drawing. PS is a real menace in some ways. And it’s such a great idea, too. I’ll give it another try!–thanks for the link(as always).

Well, I do like Eye hand project, I think it’s just for fun and u don’t have to be a master illustrator in order to be a part of it. Maybe silly, but, in some way, magic too.

i was a little dissapointed with the straight-up photoshop filters too, as that isn’t really stretching anyone’s creative muscles much. but as an art teacher, i also have to remember that not everyone is comfortable with their level of drawing skills- and will use familiar tools to help them. i submitted my own hand-drawn version, despite my love for the photoshop :) find it if you dare.
