Gabriele Pennacchioli

Gabriele Pennacchioli’s blog features a series of drawings about a young minotaur (and a varying cast of other creatures and characters). There’s clearly a story being brewed here. The character designs are lovely and are simply screaming to be animated.

These are wonderful drawings! I love the way she spots in the greys and blacks. The “Dylan Dog” pages have a little bit of Toth in them. Nice to see!

I agree, it’s almost Jungle Book. Just a little artsier.

Just like to say that I enjoy your work. You have given me some great ideas on presenting my own work. By the way is your medium?

jed- Thanks. Toth has been a great influence on my work especially when I was doing comic books. By the way I’m a he.

anna- eliane- Thanks. I’m planning to explore a bit more the world of the young minotaur.

Ed- My method is very simple. I use a red pencil for my ruff. I “paint” it with markers. I use a thick one for the big black areas. I copy my drawing on color paper and I add the white with a color pencil.
Sometime I do some retouching in digital.

Sorry about the gender confusion Gabriele, I’m sure you get that a lot. You’re just one “l” away from gabrielle. And I’m slow that way.

And I hope your not giving up on comics–you have such a great feel for them, from the looks of those two pages.
