I love it! This kind of bas-relief stuff (the images, not the animation) reminds me of Peter Eisenman’s work from the early ’80s – in particular, his “House X” conceptual model. From straight on, it looks like an axonometric projection (http://blog.miragestudio7.com/2007/08/peter-eisenman/), akin to a van Doesberg painting (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Theo_van_Doesburg_Contra-Composition_XVI.jpg) or a Rietveld project (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Rietveld_chair_1.JPG); tilt the model to the side, and you can see that it has been compressed to such a degree that it appears almost flat: http://www.arkitektnytt.no/images/crop/dee_nai_sanderseisenman1800.jpg . Anyway, I enjoy the tension between two- and three-dimensional in both Eisenman’s and Ninove’s work, and I can certainly appreciate the artistry that has gone into crafting these excellent pieces.
