Herriman’s other cat

Mehitabel and Archy
I’ve scanned and posted a handful of illustrations from George Herriman’s other feline artistic endeavor. In addition to drawing Krazy Kat, Herriman illustrated three volumes of poems by Don Marquis starring Mehitabel the cat and Archy the talking cockroach.

All three are pretty easy to find online, and the older editions are nicer than the paperback version I have.

    I have many art influences. But no one will ever take the top of my list away from George Herriman. The guy was just plain brilliant. Thanks for the great post.
