Mark’s obviously already got a strong knowledge of the underlying structure and proportion of hands, since he doesn’t sketch any “bones” first. A first timer trying it this way would produce deformed squids.

That being said, for those of us that have a little practice in, it’s a good way to pump out clean, elegant no-fuss hands.

The hands tutorial didn’t help *me* much as I already figured the stuff he’s showing out, but how nicely produced are his videos? Good lighting (if a twinge yellow), good camera work, and appropriate use of time-lapse to show the stuff without exposition.

Also, his hands tutorials conveniently omitted drawing the thumb, for the most part, which I find to be the most difficult finger.

His crosshatching tutorial looks interesting, as I can’t quite get that consistent fine line quality and spacing on mine sometimes…
