Javier Olivares

Javier Olivares is an illustrator and comic book artist from Madrid. His work is bold and vibrant and just pops! I love it.

Wow, thanks for finding this site. I remember seeing Javier’s work on a now defunct link a long, long time ago. His work is just as amazing now.

That’s great stuff – reminds me of a lot of the newer cartoon animation I’m liking these days.

“La Princesa y el topo” reminds of an old collection of fables and stories from the 40′s called Mello Tunes. These cartoons are public domain. Javier’s backgrounds and simple body structure evokes this great little series from the past. A dash of old style with a hint of new and voila.

Really good work! He has one book published on one of the best publishers, Media Vaca. Check http://www.mediavaca.com. Full of amazing books, there’s one from Fabio Zimbres with a text by Blaise Cendrars that is one of the best books of 2004.
