Okay, he’s got a new fan in me. That Akron, Ohio piece reminds me of the Black Keys’ Rubber Factory. Man, it’d be awesome if they sought him out for future album artwork.

My goodness! What a find, Jared! Johnny’s stuff is amazing. I love it. Looks like he’s been tapping into the Retro Kid pool, and then some!

I know! Yes, he is amazing… I have a theory that Johnny was created by the government… sort of a super-art-robot-experiment of sorts… of coarse I didn’t include that in the post. I don’t want to come across as strange, you know. ;)
To be honest, I came across Johnny’s stuff a long time ago, but held off on posting him for my own selfish reasons. He’s fantastic.

Well, obviously, Mr. Edward Simpson is holed up in his basement creating something that will revolutionize illustration and comics as a whole and make us all realize what idiots we are for not acknowledging his brillance. And “mediocrite” will be banished forever!

Judging by other comments that he’s left in the past, I’m sure that it’s simply Edward Simpson’s intention to lob a grenade into the all too cosy, backslapping world of Drawn. You’ll be lucky, Aqua, if he offers anything by way of an explanation

Whilst I have no wish to be as provocative and offhand as Mr Simpson I have to say that the gushing praise lavished on Mr Yanok here seems disproportionate to the work that’s on show. It’s an attractively rendered pastiche of 50s/ 60s cartoons done with no greater wit or aplomb than umpteen animators and illustrators I could mention.

Funny, Richard, we gave praise to you last year and you didn’t seem to mind.

It’s all a matter of taste and opinion. We’re all entitled to that. We really appreciate the comments here on Drawn! but if it gets to the point of consistent negativity, then what’s the use? Drawn! is a site that features artists and work that we, the contributors feel are inspiring. If you don’t agree with us, that’s fine. It’s meant as a positive thing and we enjoy sharing our links to give attention to artists who deserve it. But if you’re going to poo-poo our opinions and tastes, then all I have to say is, you don’t have to be here. Nobody’s forcing you to like what we like.
