Juno Opening Titles

junotitle.jpg

Jason Reitman (Ivan Reitman’s son) asked Shadowplay to do the opening titles to his latest movie, Juno. Shadowplay, as you might’ve known, did the brilliant titles for Reitman’s previous endeavor, Thank You For Smoking.

NPR recently interviewed Jason and screenwriter Diablo Cody (what a cool name) about the making of the film. At 7:35 into the interview, Jason talks about the creation process of Juno‘s title sequence. Interesting stuff.

Oh, and the soundtrack looks pretty good to me, too.

Wow, another reason I’m looking forward to seeing Juno! I loved the opening credits for Smoking.

I think that should be “Thank You FOR smoking” too ;)

Hey I just listened to the same NPR interview! Nice one, Ward!

Worth noting that Reitman said the opening animation took the same time as the entire production of the film (7 months).

What the hey?!? How did I goof up on the title there? Oh yes. Me and my late nights. Sorry about that, guys. Thanks for setting me straight. Me fix now.

Matt — funny, isn’t it? Animation doesn’t grow on trees. Or something like that.

Sorry to spoil it for ya Ward, but Diablo Cody’s just her pseudonym:

Strange coincidence, I was trying to find information for on Jimmy Pages underage girlfriend in the 70′s for another blog and I stumbled upon this blog (well a Google Cache of the blog) for Diablo Cody. Dunno if the link will work but the blog was called “P*ssy Ranch” (asterix not included!):

Ward, I just came home from dinner at the Ram and checked to see which posts you had made recently that I might have read. I have to tell you that this post is the reason I saw the Juno premiere and subsequently loved it, as well as the reason I watched Thank You For Smoking, which does have incredible beginning credits!

    Excellent work!
