Kid Stuff

pilkeySometimes a guy is so mainstream that his talent goes overlooked or downright ignored by critical minded smartasses like us. Dav Pilkey’s Captain Underpants books made him a household name. But don’t let that turn you off… he’s a wonderful cartoonist! And frikkin’ hilarious. The website is full of games and behind the scenes goodies like sketches, dummies, and manuscripts. He even has his childhood epic, Waterman, up for all to see. I’m a big fan of his collaborator on the Ricky Riccotta books, Martin Ontiveros, and there’s a lot of his art on the site as well. He draws gooood robots.

    I remember the first time I saw one of his “underpants” books. So creative and funny! Where was this stuff when I was a kid?

    Oh well, at least I had my Calvin and Hobbes.
