Lane Smith’s Website

Finally! Every year on my birthday, I blow out the candles on my cake and make the same wish. This morning I discovered that all my years of wishing have finally come true: Lane Smith has a new website! (choir sings) If you don’t know Lane’s body of work, you’ll kick yourself at first for allowing this giant of the literary world to elude you and then pat yourself on the back for finally seeing the light… and once you’re at that point, run out and buy a copy of Lane’s fantastic new book John, Paul, George, & Ben.

Finally! I’ve been hoping for this for years, and periodically looking for one as well. Lane Smith is one of my favorite artists, and a heck of a nice guy as well. I’m heading there now!

Excellent! Thanks for posting about this, Jared. Lane’s got a great sense of humor — makes for good readin’ on his blog-like entries.

[...] I’ve been kinda neglecting my old passion for children’s books until I saw Drawn’s post on Lane Smith. I’ve read one of his books The True Story of The 3 Little Pigs (it was great), and now he has a new book out called John, Paul, Goerge & Ben. It looks so fun! I must check it out at a book store soon.. I really like his website, too. It has lots of stories and pictures. Scroll down far down and you’ll see some pictures of the Peanuts gang in Minnesota. Argh!! I want to go to Minnesota! And take a picture with Linus and Lucy on the sidewalk. ^_^;; Posted by jinnie Filed under Illustration , Art/Design []     [...]

I remember the Tree little pigs book and Stinky Cheeze from my childhood. The artowrk perfectly matched the dark tone of the stories; which I ate up as a child. Thank you for this post.

My mom gave the new book to my son (age 6) about two weeks ago and he reads it everyday, sometimes twice a day. He also walks around home and school saying Ben Franklin quotes from the book. You can see it is his own “Are You My Mother” forever leaving a mark on my shaggy karate chopping little guy.
All you illustrators and writer want-to-bees: irreverent humour + history + killer illustrations=children loving and parents buying your book!
