    I believe they are 3D images, really freaking good, but 3D images nonetheless. A very quick scan of his site didn’t reveal the process

    Yes, it must have been a very quick scan of the site.

    Under the menu item, “About->The Process”, it says, “What you see on this site are high-resolution photographs of liquids in motion, captured with high-speed flash photography.”

    And, actually, Worthington worked on splashes before Edgerton was born. See the same page on the site.
