Lucky You

luckyHappy Saint Paddy’s. Time to raise a sugary bowl to L.C. ‘Lucky’ Leprechaun, spokes-sprite for the General Mills cereal ‘Lucky Charms’. Created in 1964, Lucky Charms was the first cereal to include marshmallow bits (“marbits” in industry jargon), invented by John Holohan in 1963. Unlike his cereal, Holohan wasn’t so lucky. But let me get to the point… old cereal box art can be very inspiring. Dan Goodsell, an neato cartoonist and coauthor of ‘Krazy Kids’ Food’, has loads of beautiful old packaging on his Imaginary Worlds site. Yummy!

How lucky that my husband would be named after the man who created the Lucky Charms marshmallow the very year it was invented.
