There were (there are) a number of great illustrators in the former "East Bloc" countries. When I was a child I used to watch what they called "European Cartoons", which were silent (or almost silent) short cartoon movies imported from Hungary, Poland, Czechoslovakia and so on, and used as filler in the tv schedule for children. Considering that was in Franco's dictatorship era I suppose the reason of these imports was cheapness! Well, I digress, but I remember some incredibly creative illustration in these cartoons. It would be nice is somebody coul pint to some book, website or whatever material documenting these wonderfully creative illustrations and cartoons.
