The new Meathaus book S.O.S. is a beauty of a comics anthology. My review of Headgames, a previous book from Meathaus criticized that book’s ratio of good work to mediocre “filler”, but S.O.S. is cover-to-cover gold.

Edited by Chris McD, Brandon Graham, and Matt Gagnon, and featuring work from the likes of James Jean, Farel Dalrymple, Brandon Graham, Tomer and Asaf Hanuka, Thomas Herpich, Jim Rugg, and many more, S.O.S. was apparently pitched to artists asking them to “create a story as if it was the last comics you’ll ever do.” The result is a book that ranks alongside the best indie comics anthologies.

There’s even a piece by Ralph Bakshi. Baskshi fans take note that Chris McD and Jon M. Gibson are also responsible for an upcoming Ralph Baskshi biography, Unfiltered: The Complete Ralph Bakshi.
