Seriously — what the heck are they feeding the animation students at Gobelins l’école de l’image? Is there something in the Parisian water? Here are two more delicious shorts used as “curtain-raisers” at the last Annecy Animation Festival: Burning Safari and Cocotte Minute.
Both films (but especially Burning Safari) have such strong production design, humour, story-telling, animation, atmosphere, composition, and pretty much anything else that makes for great animated filmmaking, that I still have trouble believing they’re student films.
And like previous efforts, both films offer up galleries and behind-the-scenes making-of footage!
Previously: Le Building, Gobelins Gallery, and Pyrats!
