More from American McGee’s Grimm

mcgee.jpg

A few months back I wrote about game designer American McGee’s artwork for his upcoming take on Grimm’s fairy tales. Reader Danny wrote in and pointed me towards McGee’s blog which features a lot more upcoming game art, most of which seems to be really interesting multiple light-and-dark takes on every element in the game.

Yes, this is definitely cool, especially the double-sidedness of everything. Thanks for posting!

McGee’s last few games have either been mediocre (Scrapland), dreadful (Bad Day LA), or have never seen the light of day and were likely scrapped (Oz). His big idea is to farm out most of the development to overseas shops that sound like 3rd world clothing manufacturing houses, and the method hasn’t done him wonders. The guy hasn’t released anything good since his first game, Alice, and this, his first foray into episodic gaming isn’t making me hold my breath. The fact that he thinks putting his name on the cover means anything good is bewildering at best. I’m convinced he’s actually just John Romero with a hair cut.
