Mosaik is a German comic book that was first published in 1955, featuring the work of cartoonist Hannes Hegen. It’s still in print, making it the longest-running German comic book still in publication, but from what I’ve seen online, its current incarnation, like most long-lived cartoon features, pales in comparison to the original. This Mosaik cover gallery shows some truly gorgeous work from the book’s early days. A brief warning, though: like many things from the time period, there are few racial stereotypes that may be seen as offensive today.
