I’m loving the old-school cartoony stylings of Nishant Choksi. It’s some of the best vector faux-brushwork I’ve ever seen… at least I’m assuming it’s vector work. No one has brushwork that clean, do they?
Gary Taxali DEFINATELY has brushwork THAT clean :) you should check him out.

Bill Morrison (Editor-in-Chief at Bongo Comics and comic artist extraordinaire) does. I have one of his originals, and the brushwork is insanely awesomely clean. There are others who can do this, but he’s one good example.
They scare me. Really.

Brushwork like that is rare now a days. But it can be done by hand and in Illustrator. I have med better line in Illustrator that I have by hand with over 15 years of practice. Charles Burns and Jim Blanchard are two guys who can do that magic with a brush.

There’s nothing like the look of a steady hand. Nishant’s work reminds me of asuper clean version of what Mitch O’ Connell was turning out a few years back.
Nice stuff.

Isn’t that a form of silkscreening/printing and not brush work?

Stan Shaw beat me to the punch. Charles Burns burns brush work is simply amazing.
I caught a show of his work at the Hammer Gallery in Chicago in the late 90s and I was blown away. Getting up and close to his original pages revealed almost zero white paint. The surface of the pages were clean, so he didn’t scratch away mistakes. He didn’t even doodle outside of the margins.
Charles Burns is a machine.

How bizarre to spot an image that i just recently downloaded and taped at my desk1
I like to think I have a clean brush line, and even if its not perfect, its more interesting to me than the mechanical perfection of illustrator. Hand-drawn is best!
This image appealed to me for its goofy beauty!
